Twelve Days Toward Peace


September 21 – International Day of Peace


October 2 – International Day of Nonviolence

All are invited to take these twelve days to explore, study, understand and practice of the value of non-harm and nonviolence. Take some time to consider alternatives to violence, to share strategies for resolving conflict, and to join community members city wide in this intentional practice that provides a strong foundation for engaged compassion.


International Day of Peace Interfaith Prayer Service

Monday, September 21, 6:30 – 7:30pm

Join people of good will at DGCEC in setting our intentions for creating a world without violence.


Community Meditation Session and Prayer for Nonviolence

Wednesday, September 23 & 30, 7:00 – 8:00pm

Come and sit, still your mind, gather good will, and help create an atmosphere of peace.    


24 Hour Vigil for Nonviolence

Thursday, October 1, Noon – Noon, Friday, October 2

Help us mark this intention, hour by hour, with words of peacemakers to encourage us, with prayers, with meditation. Join us at DGCEC or set aside time within this time to study and set a clear intention to transform your thoughts, words and actions. International Day of Nonviolence Gathering

Friday, October 2, Noon, Big Four Walking Bridge

Leaders and everyday people from around the community will speak out, listen to local peacemakers, words of great peacemakers of the past, and take a Pledge of Nonviolence. All are welcome!
